Huntingdon Music Department Offers Summer Piano Camp

Montgomery, Ala.—The Huntingdon College Department of Music and the Huntingdon Academy of Music will offer the Junior Piano Camp, Opus 8, June 20–24, 8:00 a.m. to noon daily, for youth ages 8–12 who have had at least one year of piano instruction.  The camp will provide students an opportunity to further their musical abilities and to increase their knowledge of music.  Students will have classes in music history, music theory, sight-reading and rhythm, in addition to daily private piano lessons, duet coaching sessions, and master classes.  Participants will receive a camp T-shirt and will participate in a Camp Recital, Friday, June 24, at noon, followed by a pizza party.

Regular lessons and supervised piano practice will be an important part of the camp, for which students are asked to bring music they are studying and to be prepared to learn new material during the camp.  Games and projects relevant to the course of study will be part of the camp, as well. The cost for the camp is $190 per student.

To register, see the Piano Camp brochure on the Huntingdon Web site or contact Sarah Cheatham, (334) 462-1741 or the Huntingdon Department of Music at (334) 833-4457.  An application and deposit of $25 are due by June 6, with the remaining balance payable at the camp registration and orientation session, Monday, June 20.
