Huntingdon meets the first members of the Class of 2015
Montgomery, Ala.— About 150 members of the Huntingdon College Class of 2015 were on campus last week for the first of three Summer Orientation sessions. Comprising a few less than half of the expected class and representing 13 states and nearly every major offered at the College, the students took part in an island-themed two days of sessions about college life, academics, and student life, peppered with opportunities to get to know their new peers. Twenty-two upperclass students served as orientation leaders for the new students, who were divided into 11 teams. Parents also participated in the event, accompanying their students to fill out forms and to learn about the College in special sessions designed for parents. To close the event, the new students registered for fall 2011 classses.
"What a great group of new students!" said Dr. Frank Parsons, vice president for student life and dean of students. "They were interested, involved, and had a spirit of wanting to be fully engaged in college life. It was a pleasure to meet them and to get to know them."
Session II will be held July 28–29. The final session will take place August 18, just prior to Big Red Weekend and the beginning of classes.
