Draw on Your Talents

As an Art major at Huntingdon, you have the freedom to explore a wide range of subjects and perspectives in the College’s liberal arts core curriculum; to gain experience in a variety of media; and to specialize in the area of media or study that interests you most. At Huntingdon, you may take courses or specialize in:

  • Art History
  • Ceramics
  • Design
  • Digital Art
  • Drawing
  • Graphic Design
  • 2D Design
  • Painting
  • Photography
  • Printmaking
  • Sculpture

As a Digital Art major you will take courses in two- and three-dimensional design, drawing, and art history, as well as courses in graphic design, illustration, and photography.

Every Art and Digital Art major completes a Senior Capstone project: the development of a series of work and an exhibition in your chosen area(s) of concentration

  • Learn by doing in internships for art galleries or graphic design firms.
  • Travel and study during your junior or senior year.
  • Deepen your studies through Honors Programs
  • Display your work in the Seay Twins Art Gallery
  • Learn from others through student and guest artist shows.

  • Be known in small classes that allow for direct study with faculty and for specialized media interests
  • Gain a broad understanding and sharpen your critical thinking skills through a strong liberal arts core curriculum.

Huntingdon’s Pratt Hall houses a majority of art classes. In 2007, the College renovated and re-named the Seay Twins Art Gallery on the Green, which houses shows of students’ and guest artists’ work.

Dominik PlatenPersonal attention leads to excellent placement rates into graduate programs in the visual arts for Huntingdon graduates.  Besides entering careers as professional artists in a wide variety of media, Huntingdon art alumni are known in the fields of graphic design, jewelry design, illustration, teaching, photography, art therapy, art history and museum work, art appraisal, film, television, and theater. Because your art education is based on a broad liberal arts core, you will be able to think more broadly and to see a number of possibilities for applying your talents to the professional paths you choose.
