MONTGOMERY, Ala.—For the second straight game Kyle Eller
homered twice, as the senior drove in six runs to help the Huntingdon
baseball team to a 6-3 Senior Day victory over Emory on Saturday at Neal
Posey Field.
With the win, the Hawks improved to 27-11 on the season, while the
Eagles fell to 16-19 on the year.
In addition to the big game from Eller, Huntingdon also received a
stellar performance on the mound from senior Alex Sanford (8-2). The
Prattville native scattered eight hits in 8 1/3 innings, allowing just
three runs and striking out 12 to earn the victory. With the 12 K’s,
Sanford pushed his Division III-best total to 110 on the season.
Junior Miles Walding added two runs batted in, while senior Josh
Bennefield chipped in two runs scored. Eller pushed his season RBI total
to 63 with the multi-homer game and now has 11 home runs on the season.
Patrick Riebsame led the Eagles with two hits and three runs batted
in. Paul Schwendel took the loss for Emory, allowing eight runs in 4 2/3
innings.
Huntingdon and Emory will square off again on Sunday at Neal Posey
Field at 1 p.m.
