Huntingdon Volleyball Splits at Hendrix Tournament

CONWAY, Ark. --- On the first day of the Hendrix Tournament, the Huntingdon volleyball team split two matches, falling to Dallas, 0-3, and later beating host team Hendrix, 3-2.

Huntingdon (3-3) opened their fifth match of the season with a loss to Dallas, 22-25, 16-25, 24-26. Senior Clare Shannon led the team with 8 kills, while senior Christine Whiten added 7. Junior Alyssa Eason tallied 14 assists to pace the squad.

Defensively, seniors Krissie Jones and Clare Shannon each posted 11 digs. Shannon and freshman Melony Motley both recorded two solo blocks each in the match.

Freshman Abby Brown led the team with two service aces in the match.

In the second contest against Hendrix, the Lady Hawks sealed the win in the fifth set, 26-28, 25-22, 25-15, 16-25, 15-10.

Senior Clare Shannon along with juniors Alyssa Eason and Abby Carter each posted 9 kills. Junior Alyssa Eason tallied 22 assists to pace the squad.

Defensively, senior Krissie Jones notched 16 digs, with Eason and Shannon each chipped in 11. Abby Carter posted one solo block and four assisted blocks, while freshman Melony Motley contributed six assisted blocks in the match.

Senior Clare Shannon recorded 5 service aces against Hendrix.

Huntingdon returns to action Saturday, Sept. 11th, taking on Ouachita Baptist at 10 a.m. and Howard Payne at 12 p.m. at the Hendrix Tournament in Conway, Ark.
