Hawks Place Second at Greensboro Gordin Classic

GREENSBORO, N.C. ---- The Huntingdon men’s golf team improved two spots from opening round to finish the final round in second place of an eighteen team field at the Greensboro Gordin Classic. The Hawks shot a final-round of 300 on Monday, and finished only-five strokes behind first-place Guilford.

The Hawks finished the two day tournament with a team total of 596 behind only Guilford, who shot a team total 591. St. John’s finished third with a team total of 597, followed by fourth place Oglethorpe and fifth place Transylvania shooting 600 and 602, respectively.

Chase Blaich paced the Hawks with a final-round three-over par, 75, finishing tied for 12th place and a two day total of  four-over par 148. Cates Culpepper and Jamey Lester finished the tournament tied for 15th place, with six-over par, 150, two day totals, including day two rounds of 74 and 76, respectively.  

Rounding out the scoring for Huntingdon was J.P. Kircher carding a day two six-over par 78, to finish tied for 23rd place. Rodes Bowers improved by two strokes on day two with a three-over par 75, finishing tied for 29th place.

Huntingdon will conclude the fall season in Flowery Branch, Ga. on Oct. 19-20, for the Royal Lakes Invitational at Royal Lakes Country Club.
