Lady Hawks Set to Host Huntingdon Coaches vs. Cancer Classic Sponsored by Coca-Cola

MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- Head Coach Buzz Phillips and the Lady Hawks will host the Huntingdon Coaches vs. Cancer Classic sponsored by Coca-Cola on Wednesday and Thursday in Roland Arena. Huntingdon will open the Classic on Wednesday against Franklin (Ind.) with tip-off at 10 a.m.

“I'm excited about hosting the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic on Huntingdon's campus this year. The level of competition should make for a great two-day event. We're looking forward to making this an annual and growing the classic to ten competitive teams next year,” said Athletic Director and Head Coach Buzz Phillips.

Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The initiative leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of basketball coaches nationwide to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year-round awareness efforts, fund-raising activities, and advocacy programs. Coaches vs. Cancer provides critical mission outreach, while raising funds in support of the Society's lifesaving cancer research, education, advocacy, and community service efforts.

The five other teams competing in the Huntingdon Coaches vs. Cancer Classic include, Division III opponents, Franklin College from Franklin, Indiana. The Grizzlies come into the classic with a 6-3 record. Misericordia University made the longest trip to the classic from Dallas, Pennsylvania. The Cougars are 4-4 on the season.
