CLARKESVILLE,
Ga. --- Huntingdon College's men's golf team trails Reinhardt
University by one-stroke for the lead after firing an opening round
297 total. Senior Chase Blaich's two-under par, 70, was the
tournament low on Monday afternoon for the individual lead at the
Piedmont Spring Invitational at the Orchards Golf and Country Club.
Reinhardt
edged out the Hawks by one-stroke with a team total 296 in the first
round. Huntingdon finished day one in second place with a 297 while
Coastal Georgia shot an overall total of 302. Maryville College and
Franklin College rounded out the top-5 after carding a 311 and 318,
respectively.
Blaich's
two-under, 70, an individual-low helped place the Hawks one-stroke
off the lead in the first round of the Piedmont Spring Invitational.
Senior J.P. Kircher carded a two-over par, 74, finishing the opening
day in 5th
place. Freshman Jamey Lester rounded out the top-10 on the individual
scoreboard with a four-over par, 76, on Monday.
Freshmen
Cates Culpepper and Matt Stinebaugh completed the Hawks' scoring with
a first round five-over par, 77, and a 14-over par, 86, respectively.
Culpepper finished the opening day tied for 13th
place while Stinebaugh landed in a tie for 40th
place.

Blaich and Huntingdon look to claim the
individual and team crowns on Tuesday, Mar. 29, in the final round of
the Piedmont Spring Invitational beginning at 9 a.m. Eastern at the
Orchard Golf and Country Club in Clarkesville, Ga.
