ROCHESTER, N.Y.
--- Senior Chase Blaich leads the field with an opening round
four-over par, 76, as Huntingdon College's men's golf team finished
the first round of Fred B. Kravetz Invitational in third place, 330,
at the Oak Hill Country Club on Friday.
Windy conditions
on Friday caused higher scores with only five golfers carding under
an 80 in the opening round. The University of Rochester, host team,
paced the six team field with a 322 total followed by McDaniel
College's opening round 327. The Hawks finished three-strokes behind
McDaniel in third place with a 330. Allegheny College and Skidmore
College rounded out the top-5 scoring posting first round totals of
332 and 338, respectively.
Huntingdon's
Blaich led the Hawks and all individuals with a first round four-over
par, 76. Blaich will attempt to win his second tournament of the
season in the final round on Saturday. Senior J.P. Kircher finished
with a 11-over par, 83, tied for 13th place while freshman
Cates Culpepper trailed Kircher by one-stroke tied for 16th
place with a 12-over par, 84.
Freshmen Rodes
Bowers and Jamey Lester completed Huntingdon's scoring by carding
round one totals of 87 and 91, respectively. Bowers finished tied for
23rd with Lester in 29th place after the
opening round.
Huntingdon will
try to move up the leader board on Saturday, Apr. 16, in the final
round of the Fred B. Kravetz Invitational at the Oak Hill Country
Club in Rochester, New York.
