MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Senior Abby Carter had a big
week for the Huntingdon volleyball team.
Carter recorded 38 kills and played a key role in Huntingdon
winning three of its four matches last week. The Charlotte, N.C., native is the
ALFA Insurance® Student-Athlete of the Week.
Carter is the second recipient of the award and the first
volleyball player to receive the award.
“It’s great to be recognized with this award,” said Carter,
an All-Great South Athletic Conference selection as a junior. “We played well
last week and we had some good wins. To receive this award is just extra
motivation to play even harder this week.”
Carter turned in nine kills against Rust, seven kills against
Stillman, a season-high 15 kills in a win over Spelman and seven kills in a
loss to Piedmont. She tied a season-high with five blocks against Stillman and
finished the week with three solo blocks and five block assists.
ALFA is pleased to recognize Carter and all Huntingdon
student-athletes for their hard work and accomplishments throughout the
2011-2012 season.
