PACT Program
The Prepaid Affordable College Tuition (PACT) Program is a state program through which contracts are purchased to pay four years of undergraduate tuition and mandatory fees at public institutions in Alabama. The program may also be used at out-of-state and private schools.
PACT benefits can be used for the following: 135 Semester Hours of Undergraduate Tuition and 8 Semester Mandatory Fee Payments. The PACT Contract terminates after payment of these amounts or the awarding of a baccalaureate degree. The payment amount is determined according to the weighted-average tuition at the Alabama public four-year institutions and is recalculated annually. The amount PACT will pay for the 2008 calendar year is as follows:
- Rate per semester hour: $160.62
- Mandatory fees per semester: $98.28
Note: A $25.00 processing fee will be deducted from the payment for each term.
Example
For a 15 credit hour course load, PACT will pay $160.62 per credit hour which would total $2,409.30 for that semester. Add $98.28 for the semester mandatory fees and that brings the total to $2,507.58. Subtract the $25.00 processing fee from the $2,507.58 and the total amount that PACT would pay is $2,482.58 per semester.
