Huntingdon Prepares Future Health Care Professionals
Montgomery, Ala. – On Friday, November 3, the Center for Career and Vocation (CCV) hosted representatives from twenty-five graduate school programs and health care related companies as part of the CCV’s annual health professions fair. Huntingdon students were able to learn more about various graduate school programs, admission criteria, and tips for preparing for graduate school. They were also able to network with local employers who can assist students with shadowing opportunities, internships, and even part-time and full-time jobs.
“We produce a huge pipeline of students into health care graduate programs each year,” stated Sherry Leigh Farquhar ’13, the director of the CCV. “Many of our students are focused on careers as physicians, pharmacists, physical therapists, veterinarians, mental health counselors, athletic trainers, and other allied health care professions and this annual event helps each of them prepare to take the next step in their educational journey beyond their four-year degree at Huntingdon.”
Maddie Grace Hubbard ’26 enjoyed attending the fair. “I was able to expand my professional network, and I made some connections which will enable me to do some job shadowing.”
Madison Salzman ’25, a psychology major, stated, “The event allowed me to open my eyes to lots of graduate schools with different programs, and I was also able to compare schools that have the same programs but offer them in different formats.”
Dr. Jennifer Ballard was on hand representing the Huntingdon College master’s degree in athletic training. She had a steady stream of students lined up to learn more about Huntingdon’s first-ever graduate degree program. “There is a lot of interest among Huntingdon students in athletic training. Anytime we can get out and get in front of students – even those already on our campus in the undergraduate program – and talk about our program, that helps get our program on more people’s radar screen.”
