A Day in the Life of a Huntingdon Hawk: Aidan Cox ‘27

Montgomery, Ala. – Every student at Huntingdon has a unique daily routine, a class schedule that varies from semester to semester, and their own ways they contribute to the life of the College outside of the classroom. Over the coming weeks, we’ll ask a number of Huntingdon students to journal a day in their life at Huntingdon to highlight the Huntingdon experience and to showcase campus life.
Aidan Cox ’27 is a freshman from Arab, Alabama. The business administration major and member of the Dean’s List of High Honors and the football team shares with us his day at Huntingdon on February 1, 2024.
“This morning, Thursday, February 1st, my alarm went off at 6:15 a.m. I got out of bed around 6:30 and walked over to the football facility for 7 a.m. lifts. It’s bench day… WHOOP! After the workout ended at 8:30, I walked back to Searcy Hall and got ready for my 9:30 accounting class.
Around 9 a.m. I ate breakfast in my room and crammed some studying in before I walked to my accounting class in Wilson to take our first exam of this semester. This exam covered how to account for payroll deductions, taxes, corporations issuing dividends, and the ins-and-outs of partnerships. Since I prepared well the night before in the library for this exam, I believe I made a good score on it. When I finished at 10:45, I walked to my second class of the day, religion, in Flowers Hall at 11 a.m. This semester I’m taking Dr. Borders’ Interpreting the New Testament course.
After class finished at 12:15, I headed to the dining hall and ate a famous “Miss Ruby Wrap” with some of my football teammates (shoutout to John David, Carter, Dalan, Nick, Nate, Cameron, Vick, and Tyler). After lunch was one of my favorite parts of the day — nap time. I took my usual 30-minute nap and then woke up at 1:15 to head to my last class of the day, Diversity in the Workplace, at 1:30.
Once 2:45 rolled around, I walked back to my room and changed into some festive attire for the Mardi Gras parade and performances. As Vice President of Lambda Chi Alpha here at Huntingdon, I was tasked with setting up the event stage and the food and drink table in preparation for the performances and party following the parade, which all-in-all took around three hours to complete. In between, we all took a break and headed to the DH to eat before the parade started. Along with the help of many of our great brothers and with cooperation from other student organizations on campus, we put on a great parade and show for not just students and faculty on campus, but also people from all over the Montgomery area!
After DJ Chop and the Mallard Men finished up playing on Top Stage at 8:30 p.m., we cleaned up for an hour and then I headed back to Searcy Hall to get some sleep for the exciting 6 a.m. team lift the next morning.”
