Huntingdon: One of the South’s Premier Pre-Professional Colleges

Huntingdon College is one of the South’s premier pre-professional colleges.  The recent rankings published by U.S. News affirms this statement and tells part of the story.  Huntingdon is the third ranked best value college among regional colleges in the South, and overall ranked eighth in this cohort.

Our college has a long track record of producing leaders and difference makers for communities across Alabama and around the world.  Their service and success tell the rest of the story of Huntingdon’s place among the South’s premier pre-professional colleges.

A look at the data of our most recent graduates is confirmation of Huntingdon’s exceptional work in preparing students for their next chapter beyond college.  Over 90 percent of Huntingdon graduates of the last four years have reported matriculation to a graduate program or employment in a professional field:

  • 77 are enrolled in or have completed a medical-related doctoral program with another 43 enrolled in or have finished a health-related master’s program.
  • 31 are either in or have completed a master’s degree in business administration or accounting.
  • 18 are enrolled in law school or have completed a law degree.
  • 8 are enrolled in or have completed seminary or are currently working in ministry.
  • 37 are in some other type of doctoral or master’s degree program.
  • 87 are teaching in elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools, helping meet Alabama’s critical teacher shortage.
  • 22 are working in higher education.
  • 39 are employed in law enforcement, the military, government, law, or public service.
  • 102 are employed in business, finance, or accounting jobs.
  • 41 are working in the field of health care.
  • 17 are employed in the field of biology or natural sciences.
  • 52 are working in sports, recreation or hospitality.

Huntingdon graduates leave ready to serve the world and to be good citizens in their communities and their career fields.  If there is a high school student in your sphere of influence with ambition to have a professional career and is seeking a vibrant campus atmosphere in their college choice, encourage them to consider the value a Huntingdon College education affords.
