Huntingdon College Seeks Promise of Ministry Nominations

Montgomery, AL – Huntingdon College seeks nominations for the Susanna Wesley Promise of Ministry Awards. The Susanna Wesley Promise of Ministry Awards are presented to a male and a female high school junior in each church who exhibit promise for theological formation and participation in ministry as clergy or laity. The award is named to honor the mother of John Wesley and Charles Wesley. It was Susanna Wesley who provided the education for her children. She also spoke prophetically about John’s important role in Christian history when John was just a child.

“Huntingdon College wants to join with local churches to celebrate high school students who have gifts and grace for ministry,” said Huntingdon College President Dr. Anthony Leigh. “Students often need help recognizing their gifts. We want to help churches encourage high school juniors to stay engaged in discerning their calling and to help thank them for the leadership they are already providing in their local church.”

Susanna Wesley Promise of Ministry nomination forms are available to all Methodist churches in Alabama and West Florida. Award winners will be recognized by Huntingdon College and given a certificate for presentation by the local church.

“Huntingdon has long been a place where individuals discerned their purpose and received training for ministry,” said Huntingdon Vice President for External and Church Relations Dr. Brian Miller. “The Susanna Wesley Promise of Ministry Awards are a way to continue that rich tradition while partnering with local churches.”
