A Day in the Life: Allie Roberts
Montgomery, AL – Allie Roberts is a sophomore accounting major from Auburn, Alabama. She stepped on campus last year destined to not only be a standout in softball, but on campus. To name a few of her accolades off the field; she’s on the Dean’s List of High Honors, an officer in Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, and recently won the SGA election for Treasurer for the 2025-2026 year.
On the field, Allie started her freshman season by pitching a no hitter at the season opener at home. Coach Casey Chrietzberg was quoted as saying about Allie, “She works unbelievably hard, and I am beyond excited for her and what she will continue to do for our program.” And since that day, Allie has done just that including being named the Collegiate Conference of the South’s Rookie Pitcher of the Year for 2024 and her recently being named to the NFCA Division III Pitcher of the Year Watchlist. Allie has 81 strikeouts for the season in 19 appearances, ranking her 13th in the NCAA.
So, what’s life like for a college athlete on the mound? On Saturday, April 5, Allie shared her day in the life for a typical weekend with a home doubleheader.
“I started my gameday off at 8 a.m. to get my hair done by my teammate, Maddie Grace Hubbard. I always do the same hairstyle for good luck! Today we are remembering our fellow athlete and sorority sister, Emma Howard, so I put a pink ribbon in my hair instead of my usual red and white. After my hair is done, I go back to my room to get dressed for the game.
I head to Lucinda Samford Cannon Field around 9:45 a.m. to set up and eat breakfast. This morning, we had Chick-Fil-A biscuits and fruit which is one of my favorite pregame meals.
We hang out and eat until we start warming up around 10:30 a.m. At warmups, I always throw the same number of pitches to get ready. Also, just relaxing and having fun while warming up helps me stay calm and not get nervous about the game. At 11:45 a.m., everyone is warm, and we do our huddle to get the starting lineup from Kiwi Johnson. She always hypes up the team and gets us ready to play!
By 12:00 p.m., it is time to beat Covenant!
In between games, I grab a snack and talk with family and friends. When both games are over, we sing the fight song and then meet with Coach Casey and Coach T in the outfield.
At 4:00, I leave the field and go back to my residence hall to take a shower and get ready to go eat with my teammates. We ate at Moe’s Barbecue down the street from campus and watched the Final Four. After dinner, I went back to my room and got ready for my Alpha Omicron Pi mini recruitment workshop the next day.
It was a long day, so I got in bed around 10:30 p.m. and went to sleep!”
The Hawks took two wins against Covenant on April 5. They won 8-0 for both games.
Allie pitched in game one. She pitched all five innings, striking out five Covenant players and allowing only one hit. This was Allie’s fourteenth win of the season.
