Beloved Huntingdon Professor Honored with Emerita Status
Montgomery, AL – Friday, November 15, Huntingdon alumna and professor, Dr. Maureen Kendrick Murphy ’78, was awarded the title of Professor Emerita by President Anthony Leigh.
Dr. Murphy has served the institution for 27 years as a faculty member and administrator. She is considered a beloved mentor and friend by countless students, alumni, faculty, and staff. Below is the proclamation presented:
WHEREAS, Dr. Maureen Kendrick Murphy, Huntingdon Class of 1978, has served with honor, dedication, and distinction at Huntingdon College for 27 years as a faculty member and administrator, and
WHEREAS, Dr. Murphy has as a distinguished and faithful alumna of the college celebrated and brought honor to her alma mater at every opportunity, earning recognition both with the Alumni Achievement Award and the Alumni Loyalty Award, and
WHEREAS, Dr. Murphy has cultivated in her students that love of learning, and inspired her colleagues that love of teaching, that makes Huntingdon a community of educational excellence without peer, and
WHEREAS, in her fifty-year association with Huntingdon College, demonstrated unwavering commitment to all of its best values, goals, and ideals.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Faculty at Huntingdon College gratefully acknowledge Dr. Murphy’s exemplary service and dedication, wish her all the best in her retirement, and on the 18th day of October 2024, voted to recommend to Huntingdon College President Dr. Anthony J. Leigh that she be grated the title of “Professor Emerita” with all the rights and privileges appertaining to this distinction.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Dr. Anthony J. Leigh, President of Huntingdon College, on behalf of the College, do hereby on this 12th day of November 2024 honor Dr. Maureen Kendrick Murphy and grant the title of “Professor Emerita” with all the rights and privileges appertaining to this distinction.
