Huntingdon Percussion Offers Day of Drumline
Montgomery, Ala.—The beat goes on at Huntingdon College as the College’s Percussion Studio offers Day of Drumline, a drumline clinic for high school percussionists in grades 9–12, Saturday, March 11, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Dr. John Wooton, professor of music at the University of Southern Mississippi, will serve as special guest clinician, with Brandon Mooney, associate director of bands at Huntingdon College. There is no cost for attendance.
Dr. John Wooton is in his 31st year as a professor at the University of Southern Mississippi. He is a lover of music in various genres, preferring a blend of jazz and Caribbean styles. He is an international artist and clinician endorsing Pearl Drums, Zildjian Cymbals, Remo, and Vic Firth, and has performed and provided instruction around the world. He also endorses Row Loff Productions, publisher of his books, solos, and ensembles.
Originally from Saskatchewan, Canada, Brandon Mooney is the associate director of bands/percussion studies at Huntingdon College. Having taught, written, and performed music across the United States, Canada, Germany, and Austria, Mr. Mooney brings his diverse background in percussion performance and education into the classroom for his students. Mr. Mooney holds a bachelor’s degree in music (education) from the University of Western Ontario, a master’s degree in performance from the University of Texas at Austin, and is completing his doctorate at the University of Alabama.
